Welcome Year of the Fire Horse

Losar Tashi Delek! The year of the Fire Horse fastly approaches, beginning on February 18, 2026.  Tibetan astrology is based on a 12 year cycle. Each year is represented by a different animal and is associated with one of the five elements: Earth, Water, Wind, Iron, & Fire.  In Tibetan astrology, the horse is considered one of the most auspicious in the 12 year cycle, as it represents spiritual and physical movement, momentum, passage, acceleration, and freedom.

The Fire Horse is closely linked with lungta, the winds of karmic change and distribution of blessings. The Fire Horse is believed to carry transformation:  charging forward with immense  energy, vitality, and the alignment of action (motion?) with luminosity. It is said that the Fire Horse lends insight into the ripening of karmic seeds and obstructions without clear  external cause, requiring greater awareness, patience, self-compassion, and discipline. May we step into the firey stream with vajra confidence. May we discover the crowned jewel of bodhichitta there in the vast stillness of all that moves.
