Guidance by Jacqueline Mandell, Resident Teacher
At the beginning of the lunar new year and for 15 days afterward, Shakyamuni Buddha performed multiple miracles and taught daily in response to challenges from skeptics of the six major philosophical schools of his day. Through these activities, thousands adopted the Buddhist path. Some skeptics became monks and arhats. Also called Chotrul Duchen or “Festival of Miracles,” it is an auspicious time celebrated by Buddhists in conjunction with the lunar new year, or Losar.
This February 18, we will meet and celebrate with a guided, mindful-sitting meditation, clear explanation and practice of the Longchen Nyingthig ngondro (focus on Guru Yoga), and end with a Jigme Lingpa tsok. Practices are suitable for all levels and are “beginner friendly.”
